My boyfriend and I had the great pleasure of staying at Pousada Graciosa this past week. It was our first trip to Brazil, and what an excellent start it made for our trip!
We took the train down from Curitiba, which gives a great introduction to the beauty of the area. The pousada itself sits in the forest outside of Morretes. There are six charming cabins or chalets, with nice linens, a clean bathroom, and a private porch with a hammock.
The highlight of the place, though, are the hosts, Curt and Mirian, and their delicious food. You'll wake up in the morning to Curt's freshly baked breads, including Portguese sweet bread, banana bread, and multigrain rolls, with pats of European-style butter. The coffee comes hot with a thermos of warm milk, also served with cold fruit juices, fresh fruits like persimmons and guava, meats and cheese, and my favorite, homemade yogurt with fresh fruit.
At night, you can order one of Curt's homemade pizzas and wash it down with his home-brewed beer or a bottle of good wine from Argentina.
During the day, they have bikes you can ride to explore the countryside, a pool for swimming, dogs and kitties for petting, and hammocks for relaxing.
All-in-all, a fantastic place to visit. I could not recommend more!
